Have you considered a podcast for your nonprofit but think it’s expensive and time consuming? We can show you how a podcast can fit your budget and meet your goals.
Do you have donors that you know would further support your nonprofit, but what they need is deeper engagement?
You send emails, you connect with them on social media, perhaps you’ve even done a few direct mail campaigns. But your emails land in spam, you aren’t sure if your newsletters are read or land in the trash, and you can only find time to meet with each person maybe once or twice a year.
How do you further engage them in your work – really show them the difference your organization is making for a cause you know they already care about?
Share your mission through a podcast.
A podcast – even just one or a few episodes — might be the answer you’ve been looking for.
One thing we hear over and over from our clients is that direct communication with top donors is key. A podcast not only gives you
an additional way to reach your donors – it
also gives you a reason to reach out to them directly.
Imagine you have a simple, short podcast that highlights your top programs or priorities. You know that one of your target donors is very interested in one particular program. You can easily text them a link to that particular episode with a direct note from you as to why you are sending it.
Benefits of a Nonprofit Podcast
A new communication channel
Adding a podcast to your communications gives you an additional way to share information with your donors and supporters.
One-to-one contact with donors
Your podcast gives you a reason to reach out to your best donors, and also a reason to follow up.
Create deeper connections
Podcasts are known for building relationships and creating deep connections with the listener.
Reach people who prefer listening
Some supporters will be readers, and some prefer listening. Podcasts can give your donors and supporters the option to hear from you in the way they prefer.
Gain a new media asset
Podcast episodes become media assets that you can share. You can share links in every sort of communication - email, social media, print. Your top leadership and Trustees can reach out to prospects with a link to their favorite episodes.
Donor recognition opportunity
You can recognize donors in your podcast or even have them come on for a short time at the end of the show, stating why they support your organization. You can even have a donor sponsor an entire season.

It’s a quick audio show that supporters can listen to while driving home from work. It’s low commitment for them, making it more likely that they’ll take the time to listen.

FAQs
-
We start every project with a deep dive into your goals and target audience. Then, we decide on what type of show works best for your organization’s needs. We love creating immersive podcasts, whether it’s just one episode or several seasons. The result is an experience for listeners that goes beyond your average interview podcast. Our goal is to bring listeners to a new place so they can experience your mission and your passion as if they were there.
We’ll conduct your interviews, write your script, narrate your show, and manage the editing and production process – whatever your specific show needs. Once your show is complete, we’ll guide you in how to share it.
-
Your donors and supporters don’t just have one way of getting information. People get information from all sources, and sometimes it depends on the day! Some people prefer reading, but some prefer listening. It’s important to be where your listeners are ... and in today’s world, podcasts are mainstream. Plus, podcasts can transport listeners to new places in a way even videos can’t match.
-
The fun thing about podcasts is there are really no rules! Our philosophy is that your podcast should support your organizational goals, and sometimes that means you need a podcast that does more than just share a standard interview.
A narrative podcast takes interviews and weaves them into a story using a narrator, that, along with well-placed sound and music, that takes listeners on a journey. This type of show can help listeners experience and understand your work like never before, as if they were right there. That’s the power of sound – it can transport you
-
It depends on what type of podcast you create! A Mission Showcase is a single episode show, but it requires three to four interviews. One will be about an hour long and the remaining interviews are as short as 15 minutes.
For a 30-minute interview podcast, you’ll need to reserve about an hour per episode to interview your guest.
-
At minimum, your host or narrator will need a decent microphone (you can get one for less than $100), a pair of headphones, a computer, and a quiet room. We can do the rest!
-
That depends on how much of the process you want to take on yourself. For our Mission Showcase and our full-service packages, we recommend that at least two people from your team participate, usually your communication and fundraising leads. You’ll also need to reach out to other people both inside and outside of your organization for interviews
